Welcoming Corey Wutzke, Our Newest Articling Student in Calgary

We're delighted to welcome Corey Wutzke, who joins our Calgary team as the newest articling student at Crossroads Law!

Before entering family law, Corey gained experience spanning oil and gas, agriculture, and finance. That exposure gave him a grounded, pragmatic read on the realities many of our Alberta clients face. He brought that same perspective into the legal field as a research assistant at a prominent criminal defence firm, where he prepared submissions for courts at every level in Alberta, including the court of appeal.

It was as a caseworker with Student Legal Assistance (SLA) through the University of Calgary that Corey developed the practical skills to support clients navigating difficult and deeply personal legal issues. Managing a full caseload across family, civil, and criminal matters, he appeared in court, drafted legal documents, and provided meaningful support that helped move files forward. His contributions didn't go unnoticed. In 2026, he received the Alberta Court of Justice Award of Merit for his exceptional work with SLA. A recognition that speaks to the calibre of advocacy he now brings to those he represents.

For Corey, the best outcomes in family law begin with understanding his clients holistically, not just the legal problem in front of them. These matters tend to arrive in the middle of major life changes, and the decisions made along the way can shape a family for years. He takes the time to understand each client’s priorities and goals, then builds a legal strategy that fits, keeping them informed on what to expect at every stage.

Please join us in welcoming Corey to the Crossroads Law team. We can't wait to see the difference he'll make for our clients and our community!
