As an articling student, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our knowledgeable family lawyers and gain a wide range of hands-on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research
- Draft and review documents, contracts, and pleadings
- Assist senior lawyers in preparing for court and client meetings
- Attend court as required
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders
- Participate in firm-organized training and development programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a JD or LLB from a faculty of common law at a Canadian university
- Eligible for membership with the Law Society of Alberta or the Law Society of British Columbia as a student-at-law at the time articles are to commence
- Academic excellence
- Leadership skills and self-starter
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to effectively multitask and manage several matters
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in customer service or working with the general public
- Proficient in technology
