Crossroads Law Earns Tier 1 Recognition for Family Law in Best Law Firms™ - Canada

What if getting legal help didn’t have to mean doing things the way they’ve always been done?

The legal profession is built on precedent. Lawyers and courts often look at how similar issues have been decided before, and there is good reason for that. But while the law itself is grounded in what came before, the way legal services are delivered doesn’t have to be.

We believe serving clients well means being willing to ask questions: What is working? What isn’t? Is there a better way to approach this? Rather than assuming something should be done a certain way simply because that is how it has always been done, we are willing to question the familiar and consider what might work better.

It is with that mindset that we are proud to share this year’s recognition. For the third consecutive year, Crossroads Law has earned a Tier 1 national ranking for family law in the 2027 edition of Best Law Firms - Canada. It also gives us an opportunity to reflect on the people and practices that have helped shape the firm we are today.

For us, being open to doing things differently starts with listening.

Before someone becomes a client, we offer a free 20-minute consultation so they can tell us what is happening, what kind of help they are looking for and what matters to them. It also gives them a chance to get to know us. From there, we can help determine what kind of legal support may make the most sense.

That support does not always have to look like traditional, full-service representation. Depending on the client and their circumstances, it might mean working with a lawyer throughout their case, getting focused legal coaching or choosing a process designed to resolve a matter outside of court, such as mediation or arbitration.

The goal is not to fit every client into the same model. It is to understand what they need and give them meaningful options for how they move forward.

As our clients’ needs have evolved, so has the firm. We have expanded our ability to assist with related disputes that intersect with family law, helping clients access support when their legal issues do not fit neatly into one box.

Being responsive to our clients also means being willing to look honestly at how we work and where we can do better, and those conversations involve our whole team.

Ideas don't only come from leadership. Every role brings a different perspective to our work, which is why lawyers and staff across the firm are encouraged to bring forward ideas, question processes and help shape how the firm evolves.

Being recognized as a Tier 1 firm is meaningful to us, but it is not a reason to stand still. It reinforces our responsibility to keep striving to improve how we support our clients and one another.

As Crossroads Law continues to grow, we want to do so with purpose and alongside the people who make that growth possible.
