What are Unbundled Legal Services?

Unbundled legal services simply refer to a special type of legal retainer, sometimes called a limited scope retainer. A regular retainer with a family lawyer involves paying the lawyer a lump sum (usually $3000-$5000) and the lawyer does all of the work on your file so you don’t have to represent yourself. Unbundled legal services offer customers the option of having a lawyer do specific tasks that are agreed upon ahead of time.

Legal coaching and paralegal coaching are both simply a type of unbundled legal retainer. Legal coaching clients choose to represent themselves for various reasons and we help them with legal services in the background. We offer services based on a pay-as-you-go model so no big retainer is necessary. All of the services that our clients need are agreed to upfront so that they have a good understanding of how much they will pay. Some of our services are billed hourly and some are flat rate.
