With two decades of experience in the legal profession, Sheri Ferguson is a highly compassionate and skilled family lawyer based in Calgary. From her early career as a legal librarian and researcher, Sheri has a keen eye for detail and a profound understanding of the law that she draws upon to deliver comprehensive legal counsel to her clients. Her background in civil litigation has further equipped her with a robust skill set for negotiation and courtroom advocacy. This experience, combined with her deep understanding of the pervasive effects of family law issues, allows Sheri to construct comprehensive strategies - whether advocating for a client in court or negotiating a settlement.
A Multidisciplinary Approach to Family Law
Sheri strongly believes that family law clients benefit from a team approach. She enjoys working closely with junior lawyers and has a broad network of contacts in the areas of psychology, finance, wellness, and divorce coaching. She understands the unique difficulty of a family breakdown and is committed to sourcing out essential non-legal supports in addition to providing strong legal representation.
Sheri is a clear and respectful communicator and advocate. She strives to maintain civility and reasonableness in legal negotiations and appearances, with a high level of sensitivity to all parties involved.
Mentoring Tomorrow’s Family Law Leaders
Sheri is passionate about fostering the next generation of legal professionals and nurturing their development through mentorship. As part of her commitment to this cause, she taught the Alberta Bar Admissions course (CPLED), and she currently volunteers as one of two advising lawyers in family and civil law for the Student Legal Assistance program at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law. This experience has allowed her to support aspiring lawyers and provide crucial legal support to low-income Calgarians, actively contributing to improving access to justice in her community.
